Hidden Earth 2024
Ben Honan, Ben Richards, Paul Huggins (Huggy), Ellie Pizey, Chris Hayes, Laura Temple, Jergus Strucka, Thurston Blount
A sucessful Hidden Earth - this report is being written up a long time after the event has happened so I'm sure I'm forgotting all the bad points.
Llangollen suited us well, and a group of us descended on the unsuspecting town on Friday night - this time Laura bringing cupcakes rather than car drama.
Saturday saw furious networking - with Ellie and I sidling up to the Meghalaya expedition leader, which we then were members of the following Feb. Chris and I shared the 45 min talk, given I was expo leader and he was president. It went very well despite the presentation having been thrown together at the last minute.
I entered some photos into the digital competition (spoiler: no prizes rip) but gave them a cheer when they came around on the little TV they had presenting them. Thurston bought the brightest green oversuit known to human kind.
Before the stomp we grabbed a pint with club alum Paul Huggins, and got him up to speed with all the latest on Slov, and he blew our minds with hydrology and tales from the good old days. Thanks Paul!
Sunday saw more of the same, albeit with a lot less energy given some late night canal dipping antics. I headed back to London while the others went for a few days of climbing and mine exploring, during which Thurston wore leather boots into a disgusting orange pit of mud, Laura broke her ankle jumping onto a log (not that she knew it at the time) and everyone enjoyed staying in a hut in Ogwen that aparently had sheep visiting you while on the toilet.
